We'll be honest here— we don't love this photo, and don't expect you Watchung-ites to love it either. The old sign at Best Lake is charming as all heck, but man, this thing is like right on the road. The sunlight wasn't on our side, we were trying to avoid turning Mavis into a pancake, and I will admit that it was sort of a Plan B spot.
We were originally going to park the tripod within the abandoned Feltville Village within Watchung Reservation, but a discussion while in town brought us into agreement that we should do this project "right" if we're going to do it. Watchung is its own independent town, and almost certainly what Dave was looking at when he wrote it into the Stomp— Watchung Reservation is by-and-large part of Berkeley Heights, and we didn't want to get called out on a technicality so early into our adventure.
So Best Lake it was, and we just didn't have the chance to spend more time in town to look around a little more. Sorry, guys!
