NOTES
Put this on your must-do list during the warm season!
The Black River & Western Railroad operates its recreational train excursions throughout the spring, summer, and fall, departing from Ringoes and traveling a relaxing route through the beautiful rolling hills of Hunterdon County before arriving at station in Flemington. Check the calendar ahead of time and try to book an excursion powered by their steam locomotive for an especially unique outing.
This, and her sister railroad in Phillipsburg, are the only operating steam locomotives in New Jersey.
While it's a shame that the Liberty Village Outlets right next to the Flemington station are all but a ghost town, the much better news is that Lone Eagle Brewing is only a few hundred yards away, and the farmers market in the old Stangl factory is within walking distance. The BR&W makes several runs to and from Ringoes during the day, so you can feel free to hop off in Flemington, grab a pint, and board a later train back to station.
