NOTES
This 938-foot long double bore tunnel was opened in 1856 as part of the main line of the Delaware, Lackawanna & Western (DL&W) railroad. In 1911, the DL&W opened its Lackawanna Cut-Off line which significantly reduced the function of these tracks, leading to their steep decline and eventual abandonment in 1970.
Within each current tunnel are a series of roof collapses speaking to the instability of the deteriorating structures, and their location is not easily accessible without encountering trespassing issues. We have chosen to omit the coordinates to help preserve this spot from volume exploration and further vandalism.
